Minister of Education Shai Piron Addresses Friends of Jerusalem College of Technology
Israel’s Minister of Education Shai Peron met with 35 Jewish community leaders at a breakfast hosted by the American Friends of Jerusalem College of Technology (JCT), on November 13th.
Minister Piron estimates that by 2025, the Haredi and Israeli Arab population will account for almost 45% of all its citizens. Therefore, the integration of these populations into the workplace, primarily in Jerusalem, is of critical importance. Piron, who visited the college’s campus, recently, lauded the college’s continued success in training Haredi men and women to enter the workforce in high level technological, scientific, and health related fields. More than 1,700 Haredi men and women are now enrolled at JCT’s three campuses.
Aurora Cassirer, former President of Friends of JCT, praised JCT for training observant women to become professionals in the engineering, computer science, accounting and nursing industries and to further enhance Israel’s economy. Vice President of JCT Stuart Hershkowitz thanked the minister for supporting JCT and Friends of JCT who provide scholarship funding and job placement services to the 4,000 students currently enrolled.
Louis Libin, President of Friends of JCT, observed, “We have a true partner in Minister Piron who values the JCT education that will enable thousands of young men and women to develop new technologies that will safeguard the Jewish State while building its economy and fostering important social change.”
