Bio – informatics is a field of Biology that uses computational tools to solve problems and is the interface between mathematics, computer science and biology, especially in the field of molecular biology.
Bio-Informatics plays an important role in the process of drug development and in pharmaceutical research and development.
Beginning with the next academic year, a new Department of Bio-Informatics will open at JCT and will be headed by Professor Uziel Sandler and Dr. Sarah Genut. The curriculum will focus on the logical design of drugs. The program will allow students to gain advanced knowledge in several scientific fields. The program will work both for students who wish to focus on biology and want to qualify for a profession in a high-tech industry, and for those who wish to focus on computer science, and simultaneously gain knowledge in biology.
