The Israel Defense Force and JCT have a long standing cooperative relationship. The IDF plays an important role in identifying high school students with potential for leadership, success and advancement in the armed forces. Many of these gifted students then participate in the IDF’s Atuda program, enrolling full time in JCT and deferring their army service until after the completion of their education. The vast majority of JCT students serve or have served in the IDF and most of Nachal IDF soldiers eventually attend JCT.
Every IDF chaplain comes to JCT every year for a one week period to study and ask numerous Halachic issues pertaining to soldiers in the army. Many JCT graduates become IDF officers. They are heavily involved in directing technology-based air and ground war activities, especially in the critical areas of military intelligence, communications, and reconnaissance. Several JCT graduates were involved in the development of the Iron dome technology utilized by the IDF. JCT is also particularly known for its expertise in the fields of electro-optics and is the leading provider of specialists and engineers in this area.
